Georgia O'Keeffe: Red Poppy No. VI, Poster

About the Artist

Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986) painted voluptuous petals and other natural forms in a style that merged realism with abstraction. O’Keeffe shunned the prevalent European ideals she found constraining—which led to her worldwide popular and critical acclaim and eventually centered her within American modernism. Born in Wisconsin, she moved to New York at a young age and began painting her now-iconic oversized flowers. O’Keeffe later became enamored with New Mexico and its skies, hills, weathered bones, and adobe homes.
