About the Artist

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist and the undisputed master of the colored woodblock print. The prolific artist is known for his many landscape series, such as Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō, and One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. His compositions had a marked influence on the impressionist painters of the 19th century.
