About the Artist
Peter Flötner (c. 1485–1547) was a goldsmith and an important designer of ornament in Nuremberg, a great center for the production of decorative metalwork in the early 16th century. He is credited with being one of the first artists to introduce Italian Renaissance styles of ornament to northern Europe.
