About the Collection
The National Gallery of Art houses one of the world's finest collections of American and European painting, sculpture, and graphic arts from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. Presenting the Western Hemisphere's most comprehensive survey of Italian Renaissance art, the holdings include the only painting by Leonardo da Vinci outside Europe. The collections are also rich in French, Spanish, German, Flemish, Dutch, British, and modern and contemporary art. Especially well represented are the 19th-century French impressionists and American painters from colonial times to the current day.
The National Gallery of Art Engagement Calendar is a perennial favorite of art enthusiasts and presents a treasury of works from the collection of one of the finest and most visited museums in the world. This year's calendar includes iconic holdings and exciting new acquisitions by Vincent van Gogh, Domenico Ghirlandaio, John Singer Sargent, Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Albrecht Dürer, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, Winslow Homer, Julia Margaret Cameron, George Caleb Bingham, and more. Famous paintings from the Dutch and Italian Renaissance, French impressionism, and American schools, as well as drawings, photographs, and sculpture are all represented in this annual showcase of the Gallery's collection.
