Abotu the Artist
Sonia Delaunay (1885–1979) co-founded the French avant-garde movement Orphism with her husband, the painter Robert Delaunay. She is credited with claiming the first retrospective for a living female artist at the Louvre, and created a brand that helped define the style of sophisticated authors (Nancy Cunard), international performers (Diaghilev’s Madrid dancers), and much of 20th-century cosmopolitan culture.
This striking silk scarf features a rectangle motif inspired by Sonia Delaunay's Design B53 (1924) and the artist's innovative use of textiles and color. The design includes a copy of Delaunay’s distinctive signature on the bottom of the scarf.
