Floral Impressions Domed Magnet Set

About the Movement

Excluded from annual Académie des Beaux-Arts exhibitions and disregarded by the press, a group of artists in 1860s Paris began an artistic revolution. Foregoing the historical and mythological scenes favored by the Académie, the impressionists painted plein-air landscapes and views of common people engaged in everyday life. Their colors and brushstrokes ran unbridled, intimately capturing the ever-changing play of light and candid human emotion.

The impressionists were often drawn to the subject of flowers, which were a natural fit for the loose brushstrokes and vivid movement of the impressionist style. Floral paintings by Van Gogh, Monet, and Cézanne are the source for these six magnet designs.
