William Morris: Wandle, Tie
This handsome tie is adapted from the printed textile Wandle (1917–1923) designed by William Morris. Morris achieved his design with a combination of indigo discharge and block printing. The design was inspired by historic textiles, especially 15th-century velvets that often featured a strong diagonal branch from which various flowers stemmed. The title refers to the river on which the Merton Abbey textile mill was situated.
